getting started

Installation

Download MoreInfo and open your first vault in under two minutes.

Download

Download the latest release from GitHub Releases. MoreInfo is distributed as a standard .dmg disk image.

  1. Open the .dmg file
  2. Drag MoreInfo.app to your Applications folder
  3. Launch MoreInfo from Applications or Spotlight

Gatekeeper notice — On first launch macOS may warn that the app is from an unidentified developer. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway.

Choose a Vault

The first time you open MoreInfo you'll be asked to choose or create a vault. A vault is simply a folder where your notes will live.

  • New vault — Click "Create New Vault", pick a location, and MoreInfo will initialise an empty folder.
  • Existing notes — Click "Open Existing Vault" and select any folder that already contains .md files. MoreInfo will index them immediately.

Sync & Backup

Your vault is just a folder. You can sync it however you like:

Method Notes
iCloud Drive Works great. MoreInfo detects external changes automatically.
Dropbox / OneDrive Fully supported.
git Excellent for version history. MoreInfo ignores .git folders.
syncthing Works well for self-hosted sync.

System Requirements

Disk space ~15 MB for the app

Updating

MoreInfo checks for updates automatically. When one is available you'll see a notification in the toolbar. Click to download and install — your vault is never touched during an update.
